It really says something special about a school when they value art. It shows that they understand the holistic nature of education, including the feeling and atmosphere of the spaces where students spend so much formative time.
We were thrilled to get this commission from the Baker Bears, a public elementary school outside of Philadelphia.
Making art for schools is such a pure, joyful feeling. Baker Elementary asked us to capture that feeling.✨
They were amazing collaborators on these designs for the school’s entrance and cafeteria. Tastefully, they asked that their striking red and black school colors be incorporated, but that the design not be constrained to them. They wanted a lot of color, with a soothing, primary feel, and a clean, abstract design that was whimsical while not speaking down to the students. They wanted a design that would engage students’ minds and help cultivate an eye for shape and design - even specifically commissioning our custom geometric lettering style ☺️
And overall, they just wanted it to feel good! They gave the perfect amount of jumping off points, feedback, and artistic freedom. Collaborations like this always make for the best results.
✨What a memorable, heartfelt project. The interactions with excited, thankful teachers getting a sneak peek before school had us feeling like we were right where we were supposed to be throughout the installation 💗
